2. During installation of Exchange 2007 with existing Exchange 2003 environment it will ask for Mail Flow Settings. This will create a routing group connector between Exchange 2003 and 2007. Finish the installation and reboot the server.
3. Point the smtp traffic, OWA, RPC over HTTP (called Outlook AnyWhere) to the Exchange Server 2007. This can be done using corporate firewall or public dns record.
4. Migrate mailbox from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 using EMC. Highlight all Legacy mailbox and right click select move.
5. Browse and select the new Exchange Server 2007 and click next.
6. Click next leaving skip the mailbox as the default.
7. Click Finish upon completion.
8. If there's no edge transport server modify the default receive connector under Server configuration to allow anonymous users. This will allow exchange server to receive email outside the organization.
9. Delete the two routing group connector that has been created during installation of exchange 2007. Under First Administrative and Exchange administrative group.
10. Update the recipient Update services using Exchange System Manager in Exchange 2003 to point to the new exchange server. This will allow removing of Exchange 2003 server in our network.
11. Using add/remove program we can now remove our old exchange server.
