To recall we know that we ca only have One Exchange Organization but we can have multiple SMTP domains. We do this sometimes if we want to have a local e-mail structure as well as an external e-mail structure just to organize e-mail better or two company that merge together but still wanted to have one e-mail server.
Authoritative domain - is the mail server that receives the mail.
Relay Domain
- External relay domain - The edge or hub transport server accept mail coming into it and and send it off to another domain.
- Internal relay domain - The mail went all the way through the e-mail server and kicks it over to the relay domain.
Using exchange management console under hub transport we can configure accepted domains.
Looking in the properties of the accepted domain we can see whether it is authoritative, internal or external relay domain.
Global Address List
The global address list display all objects that has an e-mail associated with it. Configuring global address list
